Description
What type of wine is it
Barolo Villero Brovia is a dry red wine made from Nebbiolo grapes grown in Castiglione Falletto, in the Langhe area of Piedmont. It features an austere and elegant profile, built on structure and finesse, and faithfully expresses the character of the Villero cru through traditional-style vinification and aging in large oak casks.
Where does it come from
The grapes come from the Villero cru, located in Castiglione Falletto, one of the most renowned areas of Barolo. The vines are over 55 years old and are cultivated with a focus on the terroir, so the wine in the glass reflects its origins.
How is it made
Harvesting is done by hand, with careful selection of the Nebbiolo grapes. After traditional vinification, the wine matures for 24–36 months in large oak casks from France and Slavonia, and is then bottled unfiltered, a choice that preserves both substance and aromatic complexity.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red color. The bouquet is complex, with spices and berries, licorice, damp earth, and bay leaf, supported by floral notes and hints of cherry, currant, and wild strawberry. On the palate, it is intense, fresh and elegant, with a persistent finish and a convincing balance between structure and finesse.
Food pairings
At the table, it naturally complements game, roasts, and grilled meats. It also pairs well with meat-based risottos and braised red meats. With aged cheeses, it enhances the complexity of the dish while maintaining a precise and profound flavor profile.
When to serve it
This is a red that suits rich meals and occasions where a Barolo with depth and complexity is desired. A bit of aeration before serving can help open up the aromatic profile and integrate the wine’s flavor structure.
