Description
What kind of wine is it?
Barolo Villero di Oddero is a still red wine made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes grown in Piedmont, in the municipality of Castiglione Falletto. It expresses itself with a structured and elegant style, where freshness and tannins guide the tasting progression. Vinification takes place in stainless steel, while subsequent aging in wood and in the bottle contributes to building complexity while maintaining a defined profile.
Where does it come from?
The grapes come from vineyards located in the town of Castiglione Falletto in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont. The designation Villero identifies the wine's area of origin and emphasizes its belonging to the Barolo territory, offering a coherent interpretation of the character of Nebbiolo.
How is it made?
Harvesting is carried out with manual selection in the first ten days of October. After a gentle crushing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at controlled temperature, with maceration lasting about 25 days. This is followed by 30 months of maturation in oak barrels and a further 12 months in the bottle, to integrate structure and aromatic profile before release.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it shows an intense ruby red color. On the nose, you can perceive notes of violet, red fruits, cocoa, and licorice, in a clear and progressive bouquet. On the palate, it's elegant and fresh, with a complex tannic structure supporting the sip and leading to a pleasantly persistent finish.
Food pairing
It naturally accompanies game and braised meats at the table, where structure and tannin support rich dishes and long cooking times. It also adapts well to appetizers and typical dishes of Piedmontese cuisine and can be enjoyed as a meditation wine when you want a slow, contemplative sip.
When to serve it
Ideal for lunches and dinners where depth and definition are desired. Served at around 18 °C, it may benefit from early opening or decanting to soften the tannins and widen the aromatic profile. This is a red designed to evolve over time thanks to its structure and freshness.
