Description
The Beaune Premier Cru Les Marconnets by Maison Ropiteau Frères is produced in the renowned area of Beaune, in the heart of Burgundy, and it takes its name from a climat that stretches over just over 9 hectares. The term “Marconnets” derives from the ancient French “marc,” meaning marsh, recalling the historical presence of a spring. The soils are rich in clay and limestone, very close to the bedrock, and they give the wine structure and powerful tannins.
Made from Pinot Noir grapes vinified in wooden vats, the wine ferments to develop aromatic depth. It undergoes 17 months of aging in oak barrels, 35% of which are new, to impart a light oaky note and soften the tannins. This artisanal process enhances the peculiarities of the terroir and the elegance of the grape variety.
It appears with an intense, almost black color, with cherry reflections. The bouquet is open, with accents of ripe red fruits and slight toasted notes. On the palate, you perceive hints of blackberry and blueberry, followed by spicy tannins that give a velvety structure and long persistence with spicy aromas in the finish.
Ideally accompanies dishes based on game and intensely flavored meats or aged cheeses.
