Description
What kind of wine is it?
Beaune Premier Cru Les Marconnets by Ropiteau Frères is a red wine from Burgundy made from Pinot Noir. It clearly reflects the character of a Premier Cru from the Beaune area, with a profile combining aromatic depth, pronounced tannins, and a clear food-friendly attitude, supported by wood fermentation and ageing in oak.
Where does it come from?
It originates in Beaune, in the heart of Burgundy, from the climat Les Marconnets, which covers just over 9 hectares. The name refers to the old French "marc," linked to the idea of a marsh and to the historical presence of a spring. The soils, rich in clay and limestone and close to the bedrock, help to deliver structure and firm tannins, with a recognisable regional character.
How is it produced?
The Pinot Noir grapes are vinified in wooden vats, with fermentation building aromatic depth. This is followed by ageing in oak barriques, some of which are new, lending a measured boisée note and helping to smooth and integrate the tannic texture with spicy notes and structure.
Tasting notes
In the glass it shows an intense, almost black colour with cherry highlights. The nose is open and well-defined, with ripe red fruits and light toasted hints. On the palate, blackberry and blueberry emerge, followed by spicy tannins supporting a velvety texture and long finish, with spicy reminders at the close.
Food pairings
At the table, it naturally accompanies game and flavourful meats, where structure and tannins find balance. It also pairs well with aged cheeses, especially when one seeks full flavours and a spicy finish that supports the wine's long persistence.
When to serve it
It is ideal when a structured and persistent Beaune Pinot Noir is desired, suitable for lunches and dinners featuring savoury dishes. The time spent in barrique and the spicy tannic weave make it a perfect choice for convivial moments when you seek a precise, elegant, and decisive red, with good aromatic definition.
