Bolgheri DOC Superiore Giorgio Bartholomaus 2012 Tenuta Argentiera
Description
Bolgheri Superiore Giorgio Bartholomaus represents one of the three cru of Tenuta Argentiera, dedicated to the young offspring of the Fratini family. This wine was born in the splendid setting of the Tuscan coast of the Bolgheri DOC.
It is entirely produced with selected Merlot grapes, coming from a single vine and harvested manually during the month of September. The must is left to ferment and macerate for about 30 days in steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Subsequently, the wine passes into French oak barrels of Allier and Tronçais, where the malolactic fermentation ends and its evolution begins, which continues for about 20 months. A long refinement in the bottle for at least 12 months before being placed on the market follows.
Bolgheri Superiore Giorgio Bartholomaus is characterized by an intense ruby red color, with purple features. The nose shows a remarkable olfactory complexity, with notes of cherry that are immediately reached by very decisive balsamic aromas which open to a very elegant spicy finish. In the mouth it proposes notes of cherry, with a soft tannin, typical of the grape variety, and a fine flavor. The good sour shoulder absorbs the high alcohol content and accompanies a very persistent balsamic and spicy finish.
Excellent with elaborate and tasty dishes such as grilled red meats, roasts and game, it is also perfect with fatty meats and well-aged cheeses.
