Description

What kind of wine it is

This Bolgheri Rosso is a red wine produced by Viticcio in Castagneto Carducci. It is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc and stands out for its elegant and structured style. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and ageing continues in barrique and then again in steel, with a technical profile that combines concentration and freshness.

Where it comes from

This Bolgheri comes from the vineyards of Castagneto Carducci, in Tuscany, at about 30 meters above sea level. The south and southwest exposure favors a regular ripening of the grapes. The sandy and sandstone soils contribute to a defined expression, with structure and tasting tension. The vines are trained by Guyot and spur-pruned cordon and are between 10 and 15 years old.

How it is produced

The grapes are vinified with alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel at 28-30°C, followed by a 15-day maceration on the skins. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for 12 months in barrique and then rests for another 6 months in steel, with the aim of integrating structure and freshness before release.

Tasting notes

It shows an intense ruby red color. On the nose the profile is bold and complex, with notes of coffee, cocoa and black cherry, with a hint of wet earth. On the palate, it is powerful and savory, with pronounced tannins that offer grip and definition. The finish remains fresh and fruity, keeping continuity and energy.

Food pairings

It pairs naturally with robust meats, roasts and game dishes, where power, savoriness and tannic texture are balanced. It is also well suited to accompany aged cheeses, thanks to its structure and persistence.

When to serve it

This red is ideal for lunches and dinners with roasts, substantial meats, game or aged cheeses, when its structure can show its continuity. The notes linked to barrique ageing and the fresh, fruity finish also make it suitable for tasting occasions where a defined profile is sought. Opening it shortly before serving helps to enhance both the aromatic complexity and the overall balance.
