Description
The Altero wine is a Brunello di Montalcino produced with 100% Sangiovese grapes, coming from the renowned area of Montalcino. Despite the specificity of the production process, it maintains the typical and distinctive qualities of Sangiovese, offering a rich and complex tasting experience.
The winemaking process involves cold maceration at 12°C for two days to preserve the high quality of the phenolic compounds. Fermentation occurs regularly for a duration of ten days, with a maximum temperature of 29°C. The refinement is carried out for 36 months in French oak tonneaux of various toastings, followed by a further refinement of eight months in the bottle.
On the nose, Altero presents a complex and intense bouquet with notes of ripe red fruit, sweet spices and light nuances of vanilla deriving from oak wood. On the palate it offers a solid structure with elegant and well-integrated tannins, accompanied by a lively acidity that perfectly balances the body of the wine. The finish is long and persistent, with aftertastes of berries and liquorice.
This wine pairs perfectly with grilled or roasted red meat dishes and mature cheeses, enhancing their flavours.
