Description
What kind of wine is it
Brunello di Montalcino Capriolo di Terre Nere is an intense expression of Sangiovese Grosso, grown in the heart of Tuscany. This red wine stands out for its bold and structured style, thanks to careful winemaking which enhances its power and finesse. The lengthy maceration and extended aging produce a wine of great aromatic complexity, making this label capable of developing beautifully over time.
Where it comes from
The vineyards are located in the south-eastern area of Montalcino, at an altitude of about 280 meters above sea level. The soils are rich in galestro and quartzite, which lend the wine a precise tannic texture and solid structure. This unique combination of soil and climate ensures even grape ripening and helps create a distinctive terroir that is reflected in the final product's quality.
How it is produced
After manual harvesting, the grapes ferment in stainless steel, with skin contact lasting around 40 days to ensure significant extraction. The wine then matures for three years in oak barrels, a crucial step to merge the tannic structure with the aromatic profile. The process is completed with a further two years of bottle aging, allowing the wine to achieve perfect balance before release.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it is a deep ruby color, indicating the olfactory richness to follow. The bouquet opens with pronounced notes of ripe cherries and plums, enriched by vanilla and tobacco nuances from the wood aging. On the palate, it is broad and enveloping, offering a harmonious sip and a lingering persistence that delivers an elegant and spicy finish.
Food pairings
This robust red wine is ideal with flavorful meat dishes and game preparations. It pairs perfectly with traditional Tuscan cuisine, such as pici with wild boar sauce, and enhances roasts and braised meats thanks to its intensity. It's also excellent with aged cheeses, whose complexity balances the saltiness of the food.
When to serve it
This Brunello di Montalcino is the perfect choice for important lunches and dinners when you want to offer a wine of character and depth. Thanks to its extended aging, it has strong aging potential and retains its elegance over the years. To fully enjoy its aromatic nuances and depth, proper aeration before serving is recommended, allowing the fruit to express itself at its best.
