Description
What kind of wine it is
Brunello di Montalcino by Lambardi is a red wine made from Sangiovese grapes grown in Montalcino. It offers a solid structure and aromatic complexity with notes of ripe red fruits, sweet spices and earthy nuances. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, with extended maceration and subsequent aging in large Slavonian oak barrels. The result is an elegant, deep and persistent wine, with well-integrated tannins.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from tuffaceous and clayey soils rich in stones on the north-eastern slope of the Montalcino hill, in the historic Canalicchio area. The vineyards are located at 350 meters above sea level, benefiting from favorable local climatic conditions. These conditions encourage slow ripening of the Sangiovese grapes, enhancing their structure and aging potential. The connection to the land is evident in every bottle, as an authentic expression of local viticulture.
How it is produced
The Sangiovese grapes undergo pre-fermentation cold maceration to preserve the most delicate aromas. After destemming, the extraction phase involves automated pumping over and punching down, with maceration on the skins for 30–40 days at controlled temperature. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for 36 months in large Slavonian oak casks, developing complexity and structure.
Tasting notes
In the glass, the colour is a deep ruby red with garnet highlights. The bouquet is ethereal and complex, with ripe cherry, plum, sweet tobacco, leather, and possible subtle vanilla hints related to the wood aging. On the palate it is full and enveloping, with firm yet well-integrated tannins, balanced acidity, and a long, lingering finish. Fruity and spicy returns invite another sip.
Food pairings
This Brunello pairs well with red meats, whether stewed or roasted, game such as wild boar and roe deer, and mature cheeses with pronounced flavors. It also goes well with cured meats and aged cheeses, which highlight its aromatic nuances.
When to serve it
It is recommended to serve Brunello di Montalcino Lambardi at the appropriate temperature for structured red wines, in a large, flared glass to allow the aromas to fully express themselves. The wine is especially enjoyable after a few years of aging in the bottle, and it offers interesting aging potential. Suitable for special occasions and traditional Tuscan dishes during convivial moments.
