Description
The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva by Villa Poggio Salvi is the result of a targeted selection to obtain a wine with superior structure and longevity compared to the Brunello vintage. The Sangiovese grosso grapes come from vineyards located between 350 and 500 meters above sea level, on marl soils of loose texture with a southwest exposure.
After manual harvesting in boxes at the end of September, the winemaking involves a pre-maceration at 12°C for 8 days followed by fermentation in steel under controlled temperature with automatic punch-downs. The wine matures for 40 months in Slavonian oak barrels of various sizes, followed by at least 6 months of refinement in the bottle.
In the glass, it presents an intense ruby red with garnet reflections. The nose is broad and complex, with notes of mature fruit in spirits, licorice, cocoa, and coffee. The sip is savory, full, and fresh, with well-integrated soft tannins and long persistence, promising exceptional evolution over time.
Perfect with grilled meats, game, aged cheeses, and truffle-based dishes.
