Description
Château Picon La Reserve and Château Pericou are two wines that tell of two distinct terroirs with a high vocation of Bordeaux.
The first, the Château Picon La Reserve, originates from an exceptional terroir, limestone and clay, which gives the wine a splendid minerality. It consists of a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and comes to life from vineyards located in the municipality of Eynesse, near the bastide Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, in a property that extends for 81 hectares and is located on a plateau overlooking the Dordogne valley. Its vines have an average age of 35 years and are meticulously cared for, with a green harvest. The wine vinifies in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, while it ages 100% new French oak barrels for 15 months. Its dark red color stands out in the glass, with carmine reflections; it offers its bouquet of red fruit to the nose, with complex aromas of coffee. On the palate it is powerful, dense, with notes of ripe fruit and hints of vanilla. A dense tannin makes it an opulent, rich wine. It is the ideal wine to accompany red meats in sauce and very seasoned, as well as game and game. Excellent when paired with lasagna with Bolognese sauce.
The second, Château Pericou, comes to life in the homonymous estate located in the most peripheral part of the Côtes de Blaye, in Bordeaux. A terroir that boasts gravelly, clayey and calcareous soils that provide excellent drainage and favor the concentration of substances in the grapes. It is produced for the most part with Merlot grapes combined with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, all coming from vineyards with at least 30 years of age. A traditional vinification allows to highlight the enchanting depth of the fruit and the tannins that support it. Intense garnet red color, it shows off hints of plum, blackberry and cassis filed by pleasant hints of pink on the nose. In the mouth it is soft and ripe, complex and evolved. Excellent to combine with all meat-based recipes, both white and red.
