  • Bolgheri Superiore DOC Baia al Vento

Description

This box contains two different expressions of Bolgheri red wines produced on the Campo al Mare estate by Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari: the Bolgheri Rosso DOC Campo al Mare and the Bolgheri Superiore DOC Baia al Vento.

Campo al Mare is mainly produced with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grapes. It ages in French oak barrels for about 12 months. It is characterized by an intense ruby red color with purple hues. The nose opens with hints of small red fruits, enriched by nuances of licorice and notes of wood at the end. In the mouth it is full, velvety, very drinkable and with a pleasant and long final persistence. Perfect to accompany white and red meats, it is ideal in combination with medium-aged cheeses.

Baia al Vento is mainly produced with Merlot grapes and with Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grapes, which are expressed in these territories at their top quality. The grape harvest takes place in the first half of September for the Merlot and in the second half for the Cabernet Franc and the Petit Verdot. It ages in French oak tonneaux, half new and half a year, where it remains for about 16-18 months. Once bottled, the wine ages for another 12 months. It is a wine with an intense color, with a deep texture and elegant bluish reflections. The nose has interesting notes of Mediterranean scrub, enriched by hints of ripe red fruit. In the mouth it is powerful and warm, with good tannins, smooth and elegant. Overall, it is a wine of great structure. Perfect in combination with game and stews, it is ideal to accompany aged cheeses.
