Description
What kind of wine is it
Sangre de Toro Blanco from Torres is a white wine from the Catalunya denomination, made from Parellada and Garnacha Blanca. It features a fresh and straightforward style, with a clean and fruity aromatic profile. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, with no aging in wood, to preserve the varietal fragrance and ensure a smooth drinkability. The structure is medium-bodied, with balanced acidity and a dry finish, suitable both as an aperitif and at the table.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in Catalonia, in the northeast of Spain, within the Catalunya denomination. The Mediterranean climate, with warm days and cool nights, encourages a balanced ripening of the grapes. The soils range from clay-limestone to sandy and pebbly, offering favorable conditions for Parellada and Garnacha Blanca, which here express aromatic freshness, modest body, and tasting precision.
How it is made
The grapes are harvested at the perfect ripeness to enhance fresh aromas and acidity. After gentle pressing, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of about 16 °C for two weeks. The absence of wood or barrel aging minimizes oxidation and preserves varietal purity. Maturation continues in steel until bottling, keeping the profile direct and well-defined.
Tasting notes
Bright and clear golden yellow in appearance. The nose is fresh and fruity, with notes of grapefruit and hints of white-fleshed fruit, alongside a subtle floral touch. The palate is soft and silky, with fruity acidity providing drive and cleanliness. The finish is dry, neat, and of medium length, with citrus returns that highlight its freshness.
Food pairing
Easily pairs as an aperitif and with rice dishes, fish, and seafood. Its freshness and dry finish make it suitable for shellfish, carpaccios, light fried foods, vegetable pastas, and delicate risottos. Locally, it goes well with paella de marisco or arroz a banda, balancing the saltiness. Also excellent with seafood tapas and fresh, young cheeses.
When to serve it
Ideal for informal occasions and at the table when a fresh and precise white is desired, able to accompany the whole meal without weighing it down. Serve chilled between 8 and 10 °C, in a medium-sized glass to enhance the fruity and citrus notes. Not intended for long aging, it offers the best of its aromatic liveliness in youth, with a vocation for immediate drinking if well preserved.
