Description
Pegaso Barrancos de Pizarra is a red wine produced by Telmo Rodríguez in the municipality of Cebreros, in the Sierra de Gredos, from Garnacha grapes grown in five historic plots near the Arrebatacapas pass. The very old vines, bush-trained according to organic practices, grow on rare slate soils and emerge on metamorphic rocks at over 950 meters altitude.
The vinification takes place with indigenous yeasts and the aging is carried out in French oak barrels, sourced from different forests, for a period ranging between 24 and 30 months. This long aging allows the wine to acquire greater depth, complexity, and harmony, fully enhancing the unique character of the slate terroir and the very low-yield old vines.
On the palate, it is distinguished by a broad and refined texture, with delicate and well-integrated tannins. The aromatic bouquet is intense and original, with hints of Mediterranean scrub, lavender, rosemary, enriched by balsamic and mineral nuances that lend elegance and depth to the whole.
Ideal paired with structured dishes based on lamb meat or spicy pork roasts.
