Description
Champagne Brut Louis XIV is produced by the famous Maison de Venoge, founded in 1837 by Henri-Marc de Venoge in Èpernay. The grapes of his Champagnes come from the villages of Cramant, Avize, Mensil-sur-Oger, Ambonnay, Verzenay, Verzy and Les Riceys. The Louis XIV line is dedicated to the French monarch who in 1728 issued a law that gave rise to Champagne as we know it today, allowing it to be transported in glass bottles.
It consists of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes in equal quantities. It is vinified without malolactic fermentation and ages on the lees for 8 years.
It has a straw yellow color with golden reflections, enhanced by a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose, clear sensations of white pulp fruit, citrus, almond and pepper are perceived. On the palate it is powerful and fresh, with a saline and persistent finish.
Excellent as a refined aperitif, it is perfect in the company of a plate of oysters or fish crudités.
