Description
What kind of wine is it?
Petite Vallée's Champagne Extra Brut is a sparkling wine made from Pinot Noir with a portion of Chardonnay. The Extra Brut style delivers freshness, precision, and balance between acidity and structure. Produced with the Traditional Method, it displays fine complexity and immediate appeal, suitable for those seeking personality and persistence without excess.
Where does it come from?
The cuvée originates in the Côtes des Bars, in the southern part of the Champagne region. Vineyards on limestone and chalky soils, with average vine age of 30 years, contribute to balanced fruit and increased aromatic complexity. The area boasts a long viticultural history and cool climates that lend finesse to the wines.
How is it produced?
The cuvée blends base wines from multiple vintages, then undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle using the Traditional Method. It matures on the lees for at least 36 months, and an Extra Brut dosage preserves freshness and precision.
Tasting notes
In the glass, the Champagne is a bright straw yellow with golden reflections and a fine, persistent perlage. Aromas of white-fleshed fruit, citrus, white flowers, and subtle toasty notes of brioche and vanilla appear on the nose, the result of extended contact with the lees. On the palate, it is lively, harmonious, and fresh, with balanced acidity and an elegant, lingering finish.
Pairings
Champagne Extra Brut pairs well with crustaceans and seafood such as oysters and prawns, and dishes of raw fish like sashimi. It also complements delicate white meats and soft fresh cheeses. In French regional tradition, it matches gratinéed Coquilles Saint-Jacques, while in Italian cuisine it supports a seafood risotto.
When to serve it
Thanks to its structure and extended aging, Champagne Extra Brut is enjoyable when young and retains its freshness and aromatic complexity even after a few years in the cellar.
