Description
What kind of wine is it
Chianti Classico Riserva by Casale dello Sparviero is a red wine made from Sangiovese grapes grown in the heart of Chianti Classico. Known for its structure and complexity, it offers an elegant profile and remarkable aging potential. Fermentation takes place in concrete vats at controlled temperatures and it is aged in French oak barriques, highlighting its spicy and fruity notes and achieving a perfect balance of power and finesse; this wine is enjoyable from a young age and capable of evolving over time.
Where does it come from
This wine is produced in the vineyards of Castellina in Chianti on mixed clay and sandy soils. The combination of clay and sand influences the ripening of the grapes. These conditions bestow mineral notes and a tannic texture reflecting the terroir of Castellina.
How is it made
Production involves a 15-day maceration on the skins in concrete vats at controlled temperature. The wine is then aged for 18 months in French oak barriques and at least six months in the bottle, allowing for full integration of its aromatic and tannic profile.
Tasting notes
Intense ruby red color with garnet highlights. The nose reveals ripe wild berries, cherry, and blackberry, followed by jammy hints, black pepper, sweet tobacco, and balsamic nuances. On the palate it offers full body and structure, with silky tannins and vibrant acidity providing freshness and persistence. The finish is long and savory, with echoes of spices and ripe fruit, confirming the wine’s ability to age gracefully.
Food pairings
Chianti Classico Riserva by Casale dello Sparviero pairs excellently with red meats, game, and aged hard cheeses. These pairings enhance both the structure and complexity of the wine.
When to serve it
This wine is suitable for immediate consumption but can also evolve over time thanks to its tannic structure and persistence. Over the years, the fruity notes give way to hints of leather and forest floor, and the wine maintains a harmonious balance even several years after the harvest.
