Description
The Chianti Classico Riserva Ducale by Ruffino, recently awarded in Wine Spectator's TOP 100, originates from the Ruffino estates of Gretole, located in Santedame and Montemasso, in the Chianti Classico production area, between the provinces of Siena and Florence. A product of Ruffino's extensive experience in the designation, it represents one of the historical symbols of the winery, born in 1927 as a tribute to the Duke of Aosta. The blend is predominantly Sangiovese, with additions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to provide greater complexity and structure.
The winemaking process includes an alcoholic fermentation and maceration of about 16 days in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks, with frequent pump-overs to enhance the extraction of aromatic and polyphenolic components. Aging lasts for a total of 24 months, part of which occurs in the bottle before commercialization to ensure a harmonious evolution and greater elegance of the wine.
It presents an intense ruby red color to the eye. The olfactory profile is complex, with floral notes of violet blending with fruity hints of cherry, plum, and berries, accompanied by spicy nuances of tobacco and cloves. On the palate, it is balanced, with gentle tannins, good acidity, and a persistent structure, highlighting the varietal characteristics of Sangiovese. The finish is long, elegant, and pleasantly savory.
Ideal pairing with grilled or roasted red meats.
