Description
What kind of wine it is
Villa Russiz Pinot Nero is a still red wine made from Pinot Nero grown in the Collio area of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks at controlled temperatures with skin maceration; subsequent aging in oak barrels creates a lean and balanced style, offering clear fruit and noticeable freshness.
Where it comes from
It comes from vineyards located in the municipality of Capriva del Friuli, in the province of Gorizia, within the Collio region. The local origin is reflected in a light-footed Pinot Nero, where the fruity profile remains central and the structure is measured, consistent with the precise style of the wine.
How it is produced
The Pinot Nero grapes are harvested exclusively by hand when they reach optimal ripeness. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks at controlled temperatures, with skin contact lasting 15 days. This is followed by aging for 12 months in oak barrels and an additional 3 months in glass before release.
Tasting notes
It has a pale ruby red appearance. On the nose, it reveals notes of raspberry and slightly underripe red fruit, presented in a clean and straightforward style. The palate is supple, with a good balance between softness and acidity that supports the wine's progression without weighing it down.
Food pairings
It pairs well with roasts and spicy dishes, even those with heat. Its measured structure and freshness make it suitable for dishes where spices call for a precise, smooth red capable of enhancing flavors without overshadowing them.
When to serve it
It's ideal when you’re looking for a red with balance, defined fruit, and a freshness that makes it an easy drink at the table. Perfect for lunches and dinners with roasts or spicy dishes—let it sit in the glass for a few minutes to highlight the raspberry notes and the harmony between softness and acidity.
