Description
What kind of wine is it
Dolcetto d’Alba Trifolè by Bruno Rocca is a still red wine made from Dolcetto grapes grown in the Langhe. Its profile is straightforward, featuring ripe fruit, pronounced tannins, and a rounded structure. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by aging on fine lees, resulting in balance that offers good persistence and versatility at the table.
Where it comes from
This Dolcetto originates from the hills of the Langhe in Piedmont, in the Alba area, where Bruno Rocca cultivates vineyards in various parcels, including the Barbaresco district. The diversity of exposures and attentive vineyard care contribute to a consistent tannic texture and clear varietal character.
How it is made
Dolcetto grapes are harvested at full ripeness and vinified in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Skin maceration lasts 7-10 days, allowing the extraction of color, tannins, and fruity aromas without overpowering the palate. Aging on fine lees in the same vessel broadens the palate and softens the wine. The absence of wood keeps the varietal profile clean and enhances its freshness.
Tasting notes
Intense ruby red with brilliant highlights to the eye. The nose displays clear aromas of plum, blackberry, and cherry, set against a clean background. On the palate, it is warm and rounded, with a medium body, evident yet well-integrated tannins, and a persistent finish. The finale echoes dark fruit, offering balance and lasting flavor—just right at the table.
Food pairing
This Dolcetto pairs well with braised meats, where the wine’s structure supports juicy dishes. It's an ideal match for medium-intensity Piedmontese dishes, such as braised or stewed beef with sauce. Its roundness and persistence also make it suitable for agnolotti del plin with meat ragù, cleansing the palate between bites.
Serving suggestions
Perfect year-round, at lunch or dinner with warm and flavorful dishes. Serve at 14–16°C to highlight freshness and fruit. A short decant can help release aromatic complexity at the start of service. Best enjoyed within a few years of release to appreciate its balance and vibrancy.
