Description

What kind of wine is it

The Dolcetto d’Alba by Castello di Perno is an authentic red wine, a pure expression of the Langhe hills in Piedmont. Made from Dolcetto grapes, it represents the essence of a region historically devoted to viticulture. The meticulous work in the cellar yields a dry, fresh, and harmonious sip, where soft tannins and a well-defined profile stand out. A fragrant wine that manages to combine the typical character of the grape variety with great drinkability.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from vineyards set in the enchanting landscape of Piedmont, within the Dolcetto d’Alba denomination. The hilly origin allows a territorial expression focused on the fragrance of the fruit and remarkable drinkability. The provenance from the Alba area is linked to a historic vocation for cultivating this native grape variety. This deep connection brings to the glass an immediate and sincere representation of the Piedmontese hills.

How it is produced

Vinification begins with destemming and a cold maceration of forty-eight hours, essential for optimal aromatic extraction. This is followed by spontaneous fermentation at a controlled temperature, with about fourteen days of skin contact. Afterwards, the wine is aged in steel for about six months, preserving the varietal’s purity, and then rests in bottle for at least another six months before release.

Tasting notes

Visually, it shows a bright ruby red color, lively and clear. The bouquet reveals aromas of fresh red fruit, such as strawberry and blackberry, accompanied by delicate floral nuances and a hint of almond. On the palate, it is dry and smooth, supported by good freshness that balances the entire structure. Well-integrated tannins lead to a harmonious finish.

Food pairings

At the table, it is ideal for accompanying first courses with flavorful meat sauces. The dryness and freshness of the sip balance the protein component without ever weighing down the tasting. Fruity and floral aromas enhance richly flavored dishes, ensuring elegance at the table. It proves to be the best choice to pair with a traditional ragù, creating a perfect taste balance in the mouth.

When to serve it

This label is perfect for sharing during everyday lunches and dinners, offering easy drinking. The long rest between steel tanks and bottle allows the wine to reach the glass already mature and expressive, revealing its typical freshness right away. It is the ideal companion for convivial occasions where you seek a fruity profile that is genuine and sincere, to enjoy in company and keep harmony in every sip intact.
