Description

What kind of wine is it

Dolcetto d’Alba by Fortemasso is a red wine from the Langhe, made from Dolcetto grapes. It reveals a fresh and approachable style, with delicate tannins and a well-balanced structure. Fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperatures preserves the wine’s fruity fragrance and liveliness, making it suitable for everyday enjoyment and versatile pairings.

Where does it come from

This wine originates in San Sebastiano, a hamlet of Monforte d’Alba, in the heart of the Langhe. The vineyards are located on clay-limestone soils at about 300 meters above sea level. These conditions favor ripening and impart freshness and a defined structure, typical features of this winegrowing area.

How it is made

After crushing and destemming, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, with daily pump-overs to extract color and aromas. After the first rackings, malolactic fermentation begins, yielding a smoother taste profile. Maturation in steel for a few months preserves freshness and varietal character until bottling.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it appears intense garnet red with violet highlights. The bouquet is wide and defined, with notes of cherry, blackberry, and plum enhanced by light spicy hints. The palate is harmonious, medium-bodied, with balanced tannins and good savoriness. The finish remains fruity and fairly persistent, in line with the aromatic profile.

Food pairings

Dolcetto d’Alba by Fortemasso pairs well with Piedmontese appetizers such as vitello tonnato and cold cuts, as well as fresh pasta dishes. A typical local match is carne cruda all’albese (Piedmontese-style raw beef).

When to serve

This wine is best enjoyed young to appreciate its freshness and fruity aromas. Serve relatively cool in large tulip-shaped glasses. Stored correctly in the cellar at a constant temperature, it can be enjoyed pleasantly just a few months after bottling.
