What kind of wine it is
The Franciacorta Brut by Corte alle Stelle is a traditional method sparkling wine with an essential, composed style, made from Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc. It has a fresh, saline character, with a fine bead that makes it elegant and versatile.
Where it comes from
It originates in Franciacorta, in the area overlooking Lake Iseo, where Corte alle Stelle crafts this timeless take on Brut. The lake landscape, with its shimmering reflections, echoes the identity of a sparkling wine that prizes balance and poise.
How it is made
The alcoholic fermentation of the must takes place slowly in stainless steel at a controlled temperature. The second fermentation and maturation on the lees occur in bottle, with 18 months on the lees lending the wine layered complexity.
Tasting notes
The color is a pale straw hue, with a fine, persistent perlage. The nose opens on an enveloping yeasty note, the result of long aging, followed by subtler nuances of dried fruit, orange, and plum. On the palate it is balanced and saline, with a fresh finish lifted by its lively, tingling bubbles.
Food pairings
It pairs from the aperitif to dessert, taking in appetizers along the way. It is an excellent partner for caviar and for dishes based on raw fish, where freshness and salinity play counterpoint.
When to serve it
This Franciacorta is ideal for the aperitif and for elegant dinners. Serve it in a tulip-shaped glass, which enhances the perlage and aromas. The label depicts the constellations of Aquarius, Capricorn and Sagittarius, a detail that also makes it a lovely gift idea.
