Description

What kind of wine is it

Essence Nature by Antica Fratta is a Franciacorta Zero Dosage Vintage, a Traditional Method wine made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. No sugar is added at disgorgement, so the palate is dry and precise, highlighting the freshness and minerality typical of the estate's style. It stands out for its effortless drinkability and elegance, maintaining a steady balance between structure and freshness.

Where it comes from

It comes from a careful selection of grapes, with a preference for parcels in the area of Monticelli Brusati, in Franciacorta, and in particular from the Baroncina vineyard. The composition may vary slightly from vintage to vintage, but the goal of Antica Fratta remains the same: to express elegance and finesse with a calling for long ageing.

How it's made

The harvest is manual and pressing is carried out with gravity-fed presses to preserve the grapes' fragrance. Only the finest fractions of the pressing are used, namely the first pressings. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel, followed by nine months on fine lees at low temperature, with a small portion aged in French oak tonneaux to add aromatic complexity and structure. In bottle, the wine then rests on the lees for at least 30 months.

Tasting notes

The extended lees ageing builds a solid structure without sacrificing freshness and minerality. On the palate it is seamless and elegant, with a vibrant acidity that carries the sip and keeps it lively and clean. The finish is dry and saline, consistent with the Zero Dosage choice.

What to pair it with

Ideal as an aperitif, it pairs effortlessly with raw seafood, oysters and shellfish. Thanks to its freshness and saline edge, it also suits light fried foods, sushi and baked fish dishes.

When to serve it

This is a Franciacorta for special moments: a well-curated aperitif, an elegant dinner or a toast that matters. Its long ageing also makes it suitable to evolve in bottle for a few years.
