Friuli Colli Orientali DOC Myò Schioppettino 2013 Zorzettig
Description
The Friuli Colli Orientali Schioppettino of the Myò selection of Zorzettig comes from a vineyard of selected old clones, located in the Pavia area of Spessa, in Lombardy.
It is produced entirely with Schioppettino grapes, harvested by hand in small boxes at the end of September. After pressing-destemming and maceration for 15 days, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. Subsequently the wine ages for 14 months between new and second passage barriques, carrying out the malolactic fermentation completely.
Zorzettig's Schioppettino Myò is characterized by a light ruby red color, which takes on garnet shades with aging. The nose opens with spicy aromas of black pepper and juniper, enriched with notes of ripe red fruit and a slight hint of vanilla. On the palate it reveals a full and decisive but soft flavor, with pleasant toasted notes deriving from aging in barriques that evolve with time.
This red wine is ideal in combination with truffles, game and aged cheeses.
