Description
The Merlot from I Clivi is a red wine obtained from old vines cultivated on the hills of Corno di Rosazzo, in the Colli Orientali del Friuli. The vineyard, with a southeast exposure, rests on "ponca" soils, composed of alternations of marl and sandstone of marine origin, which give the wine elegance and minerality.
The winemaking takes place in submerged cap cement tanks, with spontaneous fermentation on indigenous yeasts and subsequent maturation on fine lees. This method favors a gentle extraction of tannins, polyphenols, and anthocyanins, preserving the integrity and finesse of the fruit.
On the nose, it opens with intense aromas of red fruits and chalk. The sip is substantial and rich, with great density and a silky tannic structure. It closes with a savory finish, crossed by a balsamic note that accentuates its freshness.
Perfect with roasts, grilled red meats, or mushroom-based dishes.
