Friuli Grave Riserva DOC Merlot 2013 Pighin

This Merlot Riserva was born in the splendid vineyards of the Risano estate of the Pighin company, near Pavia di Udine.

Obtained from pure Merlot grapes, selected and harvested exclusively by hand, the must is macerated in special stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures. After 8 months of aging in steel tanks, the wine is left to rise for at least 2 years in oak barrels obtained from a blend of Aliier, Never and Troncais oak, and then goes into glass for another 12 months, before putting on the market.

Merlot Riserva di Pighin is characterized by a ruby red color, with soft garnet textures. The nose offers an intense and complex perfume of undergrowth and plum fruits to which mineral sensations and spicy hints are added, with pepose aromas in evidence. In the mouth it is balanced, pleasantly sapid and with very smooth tannins.

Perfect to accompany well-matured cheeses, this Riserva finds its perfect match in important dishes such as roasted game or elaborate meat sauce.
