Gattinara DOCG Vigneto Molsino 2009 Nervi
Description
The Gattinara Vigneto Molsino is produced by the Nervi winery in the area, in fact, of Gattinara; this denomination gives great prestige to the northern Piedmont of wine, which can boast of generating Nebbioli of character and incisiveness.
The grapes used for the Molsino vineyard come from the locality of the same name, which covers an area of 13.4 hectares at an altitude of between 350 and 420 meters above sea level. It is therefore a super selection involving the territory and the single cluster. Alcoholic fermentation takes place both in containers with a truncated cone section made in oak, and in cement tanks. It follows an aging of at least 5 years in oak barrels of various sizes and a year of aging in bottle.
In the glass it appears a bright garnet red color. The nose is reminiscent of ripe cherry, currant and rose petals, on an interweaving of spicy and toasted notes that give way later to menthol shades. The taste shows all the character and structure that define it, marked by a fine balance and an elegant tannin.
Excellent to accompany a roast pigeon breast in a berry sauce.
