Description
Gattinara San Francesco comes from the homonymous vineyard, located near the town of Gattinara, in northern Piedmont.
It consists of pure Nebbiolo grapes, manually harvested in October. After a winemaking process aimed at exalting the grape in its connection with the terroir, the wine ages in large wooden barrels for a period of about 30 months.
Its color is ruby red, with some garnet reflections on the nail. The complex nose turns from red fruity notes in jam to the variegated spicy texture, passing through the toasted notes of leather, coffee and a mineral vein of graphite. In the mouth it is sapid, intense in its aromatic profile and chiseled by the finesse of an elegant tannin. It persists in dark and spicy tones.
Excellent with stewed red meats and roasts, it is ideal to accompany a platter of mature cow's milk cheeses.
