Description
What kind of wine it is
Isonzo del Friuli Chardonnay Borgo Conventi is a white wine made from Chardonnay grown in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Vinification in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature and aging on the fine lees help preserve freshness and aromatic definition, while also offering a rich structure. The palate displays a fruity and floral profile, with a strong mineral imprint and a long, clean finish—perfect at the table with both seafood and meat dishes.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from Friuli Venezia Giulia, in the Isonzo del Friuli area, from vineyards facing south, east, and west. The soils come from the breakdown of stratified marl and sandstone from the subsoil: at higher altitudes, they tend to be clayey, while in the foothill areas they have finer components. This combination of exposures and soils gives rise to a white wine with a clear and consistent profile, marked by evident minerality.
How it is produced
Harvested grapes undergo gentle pressing to delicately extract the must. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for about ten days at a controlled temperature, ensuring the aromas remain intact. After fermentation, the wine ages on the fine lees throughout winter and is bottled in spring, aiming for volume and aromatic complexity without sacrificing vibrancy.
Tasting notes
On the nose, the wine is fragrant and precise, with hints of Golden apple and banana, followed by acacia flowers and a note of bread crust due to aging on the fine lees. On the palate, the structure is rich and compact, supported by a pronounced mineral streak that brings tension to each sip. The finish is long and persistent, with a well-defined closure.
Pairings
Pairs naturally with scampi and shrimp, vegetable-based pasta dishes and risottos, as well as poultry and baked fish. Its rich structure and mineral character also make it suitable for more flavorful dishes, while maintaining a balanced profile. Enjoy it either as a versatile wine throughout a meal or as an aperitif.
When to serve it
Best enjoyed when you desire a precise, immediate white—perfect for an aperitif, or for lunch or dinner featuring fish, vegetables, or white meats. The use of stainless steel and aging on the fine lees enhance freshness and aromatic clarity, keeping the wine rich but lively. Serve it when you want a wine with a long finish and a marked mineral profile, designed for an experience focused on freshness.
