Description
What kind of wine is it
Drusilla Rosato from Tenuta San Leo is a rosé made from Montepulciano and Aleatico grapes grown in the Castelli Romani area. The profile is fresh and aromatic, with floral and fruity notes refined by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel. The lack of malolactic fermentation preserves the wine’s vibrancy and aromatic clarity. The palate is balanced and fragrant, ideal for those seeking an easy-drinking rosé.
Where it comes from
Drusilla Rosato is produced in the vineyards of Tenuta San Leo, located in the heart of the Castelli Romani at about 310 meters above sea level. The Mediterranean climate and significant day-night temperature swings help develop distinct and defined aromas. Medium-textured soils give the wine structure and a subtle minerality, in keeping with the region’s winemaking tradition.
How it is produced
Production includes a short cold maceration on the skins for 2–3 hours at 5°C to extract delicate colour and aromas. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at controlled temperatures, without malolactic fermentation. Ageing occurs exclusively in bottle, with no time in wood, to preserve fragrance and freshness.
Tasting notes
Drusilla Rosato presents a brilliant and clear cherry-pink colour. The nose offers scents of white flowers, rose petals, and white-fleshed fruit such as peach and apple, with light notes of aromatic herbs. On the palate it is soft and enveloping, with pleasant savouriness and freshness supporting the structure. The finish is clean, slightly citrusy, and persistent.
Food pairings
This rosé pairs well with first courses of fresh pasta with light sauces, white meats, and fish dishes such as brodetto alla romana. It is also a good match for light sushi or shrimp and citrus salads, allowing delicate flavours to shine through.
When to serve it
Drusilla Rosato should be served in large glasses to enhance its aromas. Best enjoyed young, within a few years of production, to appreciate its freshness and aromatic character. Perfect for outdoor lunches, garden aperitifs, or summer dinners, it also suits more structured dishes, always guaranteeing an immediate and lively drinking experience.
