Description
What kind of wine it is
Meursault Les Terres Blanches by Pierre Morey is a still white wine made from Chardonnay grown in the heart of the Côte de Beaune. It expresses freshness, aromatic precision, and marked minerality. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperature and the wine is aged in oak barrels, a detail that gives a tense and elegant profile. The ripe fruit meets a savory definition, offering an authentic interpretation of the Meursault terroir.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from a small 0.4 hectare plot between the climat Gouttes d’Or and Clos de Mazeray, near the center of Meursault. The continental climate with marked temperature swings preserves the acidity, while the shallow limestone soils with marl confer tension and clarity. In this area, white wines show structure and precision, with oak supporting the character of the terroir without overpowering it.
How it is made
Production follows a traditional method with care for the fruit’s integrity. Special attention is given to gentle pressing and fermentation at controlled temperature, which preserve the aromatic precursors of Chardonnay and ensure cleanliness and consistency. Aging in oak barrels is carefully measured to balance oxygenation and complexity without masking the mineral element, aiming for harmony between structure and freshness.
Tasting notes
The color is a deep straw yellow with golden highlights. On the nose, yellow fruits such as peach and apricot emerge, hints of exotic fruit, citrus peel, hazelnut, and a touch of sweet spice. On the palate, the attack is broad, sustained by lively acidity and creamy texture. Calcareous minerality and a progressing salinity guide a long, clean finish with fruity notes and a savory persistence.
Pairings
This Meursault pairs well with fish in rich preparations, where butter and sauces are balanced by the wine's freshness, and with delicate white meats in light stocks. It’s also suitable for shellfish, seared scallops, and soft cheeses that are not overly aged. In French cuisine, it enhances Burgundy dishes with cream bases and maintains palate precision. A classic pairing is with sole meunière, where the wine’s minerality balances the buttery component.
When to serve it
Serve this wine when you want a white perfect for the dining table, ideal for important lunches without weighing you down. The ideal temperature is between 11 and 13 °C, with early opening to encourage aromatic expression. In a large glass, the profile gains depth and definition. The wine already shows clarity and balance, while its structure and oak aging support a good cellaring potential and will develop more toasty notes over time.
