Description
Produced in the Australian region of McLaren Vale by Geoff Merrill Wines, this blend of Shiraz, Grenache, and Mourvèdre is a tribute to the old bush vine Grenache, from which the name Bush Vine is derived. The vintage was marked by abundant winter rains that promoted good vegetative growth, followed by a cool spring that delayed ripening, contributing to a late harvest with grapes of great quality and aromatic intensity.
The vinification involves aging for 22 months in second pass American and French oak barrels. This long period in wood allows the wine's structure to soften and its aromatic and flavor components to integrate, while still respecting the varietal expressiveness of the grapes.
The nose reveals intense aromas of plum and spices, accompanied by hints of smoked meat and black pepper. Over time in the glass, more delicate notes of cherry and violet also emerge. The palate is soft and structured, with lively fruit at the center and a remarkable complexity that combines freshness and maturity, making the wine harmonious and highly drinkable.
It pairs perfectly with grilled lamb chops, spicy salami pizza, beef burgers, or aged hard cheeses with strong flavors.
