Description
What kind of wine is it
Mendoza Malbec by San Telmo is a red wine made from Malbec grapes grown in Argentina. It shows a fruity and fresh style, with a balanced body and soft tannins. Fermentation takes place for about 15 days at controlled temperatures (23–26°C). A short aging in oak barrels provides greater structure and harmony to the aromatic profile.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from selected vineyards in the high area of Mendoza, near the eastern bank of the river. The altitude and the conditions of the area contribute to the quality of the grapes.
How it is produced
Harvesting is done by hand in crates, selecting the best bunches. This is followed by low-temperature maceration on the skins to extract color and aromas without excessive tannins. Alcoholic fermentation lasts about fifteen days at controlled temperature, with a brief passage in oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously, increasing the wine’s softness and stability.
Tasting notes
Deep ruby red in appearance. The nose reveals hints of ripe red fruits and violet. On the palate, it is fresh, fruity, and shows soft tannins.
Food pairings
This Malbec pairs well with first courses featuring rich tomato and meat sauces, grilled red meats and spicy South American dishes such as meat empanadas. Its softness and pronounced fruit also suit semi-aged cheeses like Gouda, Edam and Gruyère. A traditional Argentinian asado enhances its gustative richness.
When to serve
San Telmo Malbec from Mendoza is ideal when young or after a short period. Thanks to its balanced structure and ripe tannins, it is best consumed within a few years of the harvest to appreciate its freshness and lively aromas. Serve at a cool room temperature, in large glasses, during convivial moments.
