Description
What type of wine is it?
Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru by Michel Bouzereau et Fils is a Burgundy white made from Chardonnay grapes. It is notable for its structured and precise style, with a creamy texture and freshness that enhance its complexity. Maturation in French oak barrels contributes to a clear aromatic profile, allows the wine to develop over time, and maintains balance and depth.
Where does it come from?
This wine originates from the Côte de Beaune, in the Meursault area, within the Blagny climat classified as Premier Cru. The vineyards, planted in 1988, are set on clay-limestone soils rich in white clay, which give volume and a marked minerality. The continental climate and temperature swings allow the grapes to ripen fully while preserving their acidity and longevity.
How is it produced?
The Chardonnay grapes reach full ripeness and are vinified in the cellar following traditional Burgundy methods. After pressing, the must ferments and matures for about 16 months in French oak barrels, with a portion of new wood. This long élevage integrates complex aromas, stabilizes the structure, and delivers a creamy and profound texture.
Tasting notes
To the eye, it shows a golden straw yellow color, clear and consistent. The nose reveals scents of ripe white fruit, citrus notes, and hints of vanilla and hazelnut, with a detectable mineral streak. On the palate, it is broad and rounded, with vivid acidity, creamy texture, and a long, savory finish recalling fruit, sweet spice, and salt.
Pairings
Pairs well with structured fish dishes, shellfish, and white meats with light sauces. It is perfect with scallops, lobster, crayfish, or chicken in a cream sauce, and also enhances dishes such as seafood vol-au-vent. The wine’s acidity and savoriness bring out the delicacy and sweetness of the ingredients.
When to serve it
This wine is ideal for those seeking a rich yet balanced white, suitable for important dinners and precise food pairings. Serve it chilled, but not overly cold, to appreciate its aromatic complexity and creamy texture. It can be enjoyed young for its pure fruitiness, but it also shows the ability to age in the bottle thanks to its structure and minerality, which support its longevity.
