Description
Montagny 1er Cru Montcuchot is a dry white wine produced by Domaine Maxime Cottenceau in Buxy, in the Côte Chalonnaise, Burgundy. Made from Chardonnay grapes grown on a southeast-facing vineyard situated on a steep slope with limestone soils rich in fossils, this wine reflects the producer's commitment to enhancing the terroir through organic farming practices.
The winemaking involves a gentle pressing of the grapes, followed by spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new. Maturation takes place for 14 months in the same barrels, followed by an additional 6 months in stainless steel tanks, to preserve the purity and expressiveness of the wine.
On the nose, aromas of yellow flowers, quince, crushed stone, and lemon zest are perceived, with hints of warm wood. On the palate, the wine offers a medium structure, juicy and enveloping, with notes of citrus and white fruit, supported by a chalky minerality and vibrant freshness.
Ideal when paired with river fish or bloomy rind cheeses.
