Description

Malayeto is a red wine produced by Viña Zorzal Wines, a family-owned company located in Fitero, the only area of Navarra that belongs to the Iberian mountain range. The grapes come from the Malayeto plot, a 2.39-hectare vineyard situated at 520 meters above sea level, with varied soils composed of clay, limestone, and rocks. The vineyard is managed following sustainable viticulture practices and includes interventions aimed at conserving biodiversity and native flora.

The winemaking process involves alcoholic fermentation with only indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and cement vats. The aging occurs for 12 months in French barrels of one or two years and in a large 4,500-liter barrel, favoring the pure expression of the terroir without overshadowing the grape variety's character.

It presents itself with a medium intensity ruby color and brilliant clarity. On the nose, it expresses intense aromas of black fruits such as blackberry and blackcurrant, followed by hints of black pepper, cedar, and earthy notes. On the palate, it is dry and fresh, with soft tannins, medium body, and a long finish with mineral and fruity recalls.

Ideal pairing with aged ham, stews, game, and meat-based dishes.
