Nizza DOCG Pianoalto 2017 Bava
Description
Barbera Pianoalto di Bava is produced with Barbera grapes from the old vineyards of Pianoalto, located at 250 meters above sea level on the hills of Nizza Monferrato.
After the manual harvest, the grapes are fermented in 53hl French oak vats with annual punching down and delestage, up to racking. Subsequently the wine is aged in 1500l wooden barrels in which the malolactic fermentation takes place and aging for 18 months. Finally, the wine rests for a long time in the bottle before being marketed.
Intense ruby red in color with purple hues, Barbera has aromas of black fruit (currant) and spicy notes of black pepper and tobacco on the nose. The taste is dry and harmonious, with velvety tannins and good persistence.
Ideal in combination with succulent and fatty meat dishes, from boiled meat to stewed red meats, but also with game.
