Description
Founded around 1270 in Burgundy, the Hospices de Nuits originally served as a lazaret. Rebuilt in the 17th century, the hospital was further modernized in 2018. Alongside these facilities is a 12-hectare wine estate, located mainly in Nuits-Saint-Georges, which developed thanks to donations from the local community. Among the products of this estate, the Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Maladières - Les Brulées Cuvée Grangier stands out, a wine obtained exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes. These grapes come from the vineyards surrounding the city of Nuits-Saint-Georges, a region renowned for producing excellent red Burgundy wines for centuries. The terroir in which they grow is characterized by reddish silty clay, enriched with limestone and fossil stones, and in the northern part by alluvial deposits from the Meuzin river.
The harvest takes place manually and is followed by traditional vinification in thermoregulated tanks. The cold pre-fermentation maceration lasts for about ten days, followed by a long fermentation phase during which punching down and pumping over are carried out. The refinement includes a post-fermentation maceration for 5 days, contributing to the complexity of the taste profile.
It has an intense ruby color, embellished with violet reflections. The nose is expressive, with aromas of fresh red fruits and black cherries. On the palate, the wine shows a perfect balance between vinosity and freshness, exhibiting remarkable finesse and length.
This wine is the ideal accompaniment for red meats, lamb and mature cheeses, with its ability to combine harmoniously with rich and intense flavours. A wine that enchants with its depth, perfect for enriching dinners with energetic flavours.
