Pauillac AOC 5ème Grand Cru Classé 2021 Chateau Haut-Batailley
Description
Château Haut-Batailley, a wine jewel of the Pauillac appellation, stands imposingly with its iconic Tour l'Aspic dominating the entire estate. This vineyard, classified under the prestigious Official Classification of Bordeaux Wines of 1855, defined its current boundaries in 1942, when the property was split in two, giving rise to Batailley and Haut-Batailley. Located in the southern part of the Pauillac appellation, it borders Saint-Julien, fully reflecting the distinctive characteristics of this area.
The blend that gives rise to this wine is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot grapes, authentic expressions of the Pauillac terroir. The harvest of the grapes, carried out exclusively by hand, testifies to the careful care and dedication in managing the vineyards. The winemaking process begins with a maceration that lasts for 3 weeks, during which cycles of pumping over and délestage take place. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for 16 months in new oak barriques.
Characterized by an intense ruby red colour, it smells of black fruits and mineral notes, typical scents of Pauillac expressions. On the palate it is fresh and elegant, with good tannic presence.
This wine goes very well with rich and tasty dishes, such as game, red meats and porcini mushrooms. Also to be served with a platter of mature cheeses.
