Description

What type of wine is it?

Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Sous Frétille from Domaine Antonin Guyon is a white wine made from Chardonnay, grown on well-exposed slopes. The low-temperature fermentation in oak barrels and the work on the lees with bâtonnage define a measured, fresh, and finely textured style, with a complexity that develops during wood aging.

Where does it come from?

The Sous Frétille vineyard is located north of Beaune, between Aloxe-Corton and Savigny-lès-Beaune, in a hilly setting. The plot covers just over 1 hectare and lies on white marl, while the vines are about 35 years old. Slope and exposure, together with the soil structure, guide the wine to a defined and elegant profile, consistent with the Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru area.

How is it produced?

The manual harvest in small crates preserves the integrity of the bunches and precedes a careful selection in the cellar. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at low temperature in oak barrels, with bâtonnage twice a week to enhance the aromatic profile and texture. Aging continues for 12 months in oak barrels, before bottling.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it appears bright and clear. On the nose, there are defined floral notes, followed by a delicate hint of almond. The palate is elegant and fresh, with a subtle texture and precise balance; wood and bâtonnage add complexity without weighing it down, leaving a composed and harmonious finish with good persistence.

Food pairings

Pairs well with fish appetizers, where freshness and finesse accompany delicate flavors with precision. It is also suitable for white meats and creamy sauces, as the structure promoted by barrel aging manages the richness while maintaining a balanced and smooth sip.

When to serve it

Ideal when you desire a white wine focused on elegance and definition, with evident freshness and a structure guided by oak aging. Served patiently, it allows the floral elements and almond note to blossom in the glass. At the table, it works both as an all-meal wine and as a carefully chosen pairing for creamy dishes that require balance and poise.
