Description
Swartberg Wingerde's Miracle Bush is a white wine from the mountainous and wild territory of Piekernierskloof in South Africa. The vineyards grow at an altitude between 550 and 750 meters above sea level, under dry farming conditions, influenced by the cold sea breeze of the west coast. This wine takes its name from the ancient bush vines that characterize the area, a rugged yet fascinating environment that gives the wine a unique identity.
It is produced with a blend of 90% Chenin Blanc and 10% Palomino. The grapes, hand-picked, are cooled and whole cluster pressed, then allowed to settle before starting spontaneous fermentation. The Chenin Blanc ferments and ages for 9 months in oak barrels and clay amphorae, while the Palomino ages in casks. The dry farming and poor soils lend concentration and character to the wine.
It features a floral olfactory profile, accompanied by notes of peach and citrus zest. On the palate it is deep, with hints of anise and pear, a savory structure, and a pronounced minerality that gives energy and persistence to the sip. It is a harmonious wine, rich in nuances and with a vibrant character.
Ideal paired with grilled white fish, spicy vegetable-based dishes, or soft cheeses.
