Description
The Puligny-Montrachet by Maison Ropiteau Frères hails from the renowned village of the Côte de Beaune, located in the heart of the so-called Golden Triangle of white Burgundy, together with Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet. The soil is primarily limestone with ochre nuances, while the subsoil consists of marl layers that give the wine structure and complexity. The vineyards, well exposed to the southeast, are shielded from the northern winds and enjoy excellent sunlight, ensuring perfect grape ripening.
The Chardonnay grapes are hand-picked and rigorously selected. After gentle pressing in a membrane press to minimize oxidation, fermentation and aging take place in oak barrels, 20% of which are new. The wine stays on the fine lees for a period of 10-12 months, with occasional bâtonnage to develop depth and aromatic richness.
In appearance, it shows a brilliant white gold color. The nose offers citrus notes accompanied by delicate hints of toasted vanilla. The palate is fresh and light, with good minerality and slight woody undertones, finishing with a long and captivating finale.
Ideal with poultry in sauce, veal with mushrooms, foie gras, lobster, shellfish or grilled fish, and with cheeses like goat cheese, Reblochon or Brie de Meaux.
