Description
The Roero Arneis Val di Tana by Fontanafredda is born in the heart of the Roero hills, a region historically shaped by the Pre-Alps and the Tanaro river, which have influenced its rich geology. This white wine, produced in the MGA San Quirico in Castagnito, stands as an authentic testament to the delicacy and identity of a unique terroir, characterized by sandy, calcareous soils that are low in organic matter but rich in mineral salts.
The vinification takes place in two distinct phases: a portion of the grapes is gently pressed cold and fermented at a controlled temperature in steel with indigenous yeasts; the other part undergoes fermentation with alternating layers of whole grapes and destemmed grapes. Both batches are refined on fine lees with periodic batonnage until the following spring, before the final blending and bottling.
It presents an intense straw yellow color with greenish reflections. The aroma is rich and inviting, with notes of exotic fruit, ripe pears, acacia honey, helichrysum, and hawthorn flowers. On the palate, it is enveloping, smooth, and slightly sweet, balanced by a lively acidity that lends freshness and a pleasant savoriness to the finish.
Perfect with raw seafood, sashimi, fish risottos, or white meats like lemon chicken or pulled pork.
