Description
The Commodo Rosso produced by Tenuta San Leo is a structured red wine made from Montepulciano and Cesanese grapes grown on the hills of the Castelli Romani. The vineyards, located at about 310 meters above sea level, develop on medium-textured soils with spur-pruned cordon training systems.
The grapes are harvested from the second decade of October, vinified with skin fermentation for at least 15 days in steel vats, with pump-overs and punch-downs. After fermentation, the wine ages in Allier oak barriques for 15 months and an additional 6 months in the bottle.
It appears a deep ruby red with purple hues. The nose is complex with hints of red fruit jam, sweet spices, vanilla, licorice, and toast. On the palate, it is full-bodied, tannic yet balanced, with good persistence and harmony.
Perfect with roasts, braised dishes, and aged cheeses.
