Description
What kind of wine is it
Romagna Sangiovese Riserva Rocca di Cesena by Cantine Leonardo da Vinci is a red wine made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes cultivated in Romagna. It displays structure and good complexity, with a mature style and assertive character. Vinification in temperature-controlled steel tanks and aging for several months in French oak barrels lend elegance, supple tannins, and prolonged persistence. Ideal for those seeking a full-bodied, harmonious red.
Origin
The grapes come from vineyards located between Castrocaro Terme, Predappio, Meldola, and Bertinoro in the Romagna hinterland. The temperate-continental climate, influenced by the Adriatic Sea, favours a regular ripening process.
Production method
Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for several months.
Tasting notes
It shows a brilliant ruby red color with garnet nuances. On the nose, ripe wild berries, blackberries, and cherries emerge, with hints of violet and light spices such as vanilla and white pepper. On the palate, it is full and enveloping, with smooth tannins, good acidity, and a persistent finish marked by fruity returns and delicate toasted notes.
Food pairing
This Sangiovese Riserva pairs well with grilled red meats, roast beef or game, and aged hard cheeses. Regionally, it is an excellent match for tagliata di manzo alla riminese and piadine with traditional cured meats. For those who favour international dishes, it also goes well with roast leg of lamb. Its tannic structure enhances the succulence of the meat and the wine's persistence.
When to serve it
Romagna Sangiovese Riserva Rocca di Cesena offers excellent aging potential thanks to its structure and balanced acidity. Serve at the recommended temperature in large glasses. When young, it expresses freshness and softness, while over time it develops tertiary notes of leather and undergrowth, increasing aromatic complexity.
