Description
Villa Poggio Salvi's Rosso di Montalcino is made from Sangiovese grosso grapes cultivated at altitudes between 350 and 500 meters on galestro-rich soils facing southwest. It comes from the same vineyards as Brunello but offers a younger and more accessible profile, suitable for a greater gastronomic versatility.
The vinification takes place in temperature-controlled steel vats between 28°C and 30°C for about two weeks, with automatic piston punch-downs. The wine then matures for 9 months in Slavonian oak barrels, followed by at least 2 months in the bottle to refine its harmony.
To the eye, it displays a bright ruby red color with violet reflections. The bouquet reveals aromas of fresh red fruit and wildflowers. On the palate, it is soft, fruity, and well-balanced, with elegant tannins that make it enjoyable and ready to drink.
Ideal with substantial first courses, roasts of white and red meats, and semi-aged cheeses.
