Description
Rosso Piceno of Villa Forano comes from vineyards located on the hills of Appignano, in the province of Macerata.
It is produced with Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes, selected and harvested by hand during the first ten days of October. The grapes are placed in steel for the prefermentative and post-fermentative phase, with maceration of about 20 - 25 days. Subsequently the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and refines in large wooden barrels for about 8 - 12 months.
This Rosso Piceno has a ruby red color enriched with purple reflections. The nose opens with intense and persistent hints of fresh red berry fruit, including notes of black currant, blueberry and raspberry, and pleasant vanilla nuances. On the palate it is dry, fairly fresh and pleasantly tannic, with a good persistence, a great structure and excellent wrapping.
Perfect to accompany first courses with elaborate meat sauces or legume soups, it is ideal in combination with second courses based on red meat cooked on the grill, on the grill or in the oven. Excellent also with aged cheeses and salami.
