Rosso Piceno Superiore DOP Morrigan 2017 Capecci
Description
The Morrigan di Capecci originates from the hills of the historic DOC Rosso Piceno Superiore, in Acquaviva Picena.
It mainly consists of Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes. Once fermentation is complete, the wine ages in barriques for 12 months and for a further 6 months in bottle. The entire winemaking process takes place in the total absence of proteins, both animal and vegetable, and with moderate additions of sulphites in the phases in which they are absolutely necessary. The possible presence of sediments on the bottom is due to the fact that the wine is bottled without first being subjected to microfiltration.
Ruby red wine that tends to garnet, opens to the nose with hints of undergrowth which are gradually enriched with spicy notes including tobacco. In the mouth it proves spicy, satisfying and of good balance.
Recommended in combination with important roasts of red meat or salami, it is the ideal companion for aged cheeses. Also excellent as a meditation wine.
