Description
Saint-Véran by Maison Ropiteau Frères originates from the Mâconnais region, south of Burgundy, involving seven villages where only Chardonnay is cultivated. The vineyards cover an area of 558 hectares, characterized by clay-limestone soils dating back to the Jurassic period, ideal for fully expressing the typical characteristics of the grape variety.
The vinification takes place in wooden vats, followed by an aging period in barrels lasting between 10 to 14 months, with 20% in new wood. This process allows the preservation of the fruit while simultaneously adding complexity and structure to the wine, enhancing the character of the Chardonnay without overpowering it.
It appears pale gold with green highlights. In its youth, the bouquet reveals aromas of white fruit and delicate flowers; as it evolves, notes of hazelnut, toasted almond, honey, and flint emerge. On the palate, it is dry yet soft, enveloping, and fruity, with a balanced structure and a pleasant roundness.
It pairs perfectly with appetizers, cold cuts, oysters, shellfish, fish, or frog legs.
