Description
What kind of wine is it?
Fiano Angiò by Leone de Castris is a white wine from Salento made from 100% Fiano grapes. The style focuses on a fresh and smooth drinkability, with a well-defined structure and a clear aromatic expression. After fermentation, the wine is aged on the lees for at least 3 months with bâtonnage and then continues with 2 months of bottle aging, thus achieving balance.
Where does it come from?
This wine comes from vineyards located in the heart of Salento, in Apulia, an area with a strong winemaking vocation that produces whites with a distinctive and recognizable character. In this context, Fiano offers a take focused on freshness and roundness, with a persistent taste presence and a good consistency on the palate.
How is it made?
The Fiano grapes are handpicked between the end of August and the beginning of September to preserve the integrity of the fruit. After fermentation, the wine matures on the lees for at least 3 months and undergoes frequent bâtonnage to promote volume and smoothness. This is followed by 2 months in the bottle, which helps refine its organoleptic characteristics before being released to the market.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it shows a straw yellow color. On the nose, notes of peach and pineapple are perceived, accompanied by intense floral hints that outline a direct aromatic profile. On the palate, it is fresh and smooth, with good structure that supports the tasting progression and maintains its continuity.
Food pairings
At the table, it pairs naturally with seafood first courses, grilled fish, and lean meats. The combination of freshness, smoothness, and structure makes it suitable for dishes that require a white wine capable of accompanying without overpowering the main flavors.
When to serve it
It is recommended when you are looking for a white wine with a defined aromatic profile, fruity and floral sensations, and a mouthfeel that is both fresh and smooth. The intended aging, with at least 3 months on the lees with bâtonnage and 2 months in the bottle, helps make the wine more balanced and ready for the table during convivial occasions, especially with seafood menus or light dishes.
